Events, tasks, preferences, and search history are stored on your device. If you sign in, selected data is synchronized to the server. Without an account nothing leaves the device.

Velea does not retain audio. The operating system may send speech to Apple or the device vendor. For Khmer dictation, which many devices cannot recognise, audio may pass through Velea's server to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text — only for a recording you start, and only after you have explicitly consented to cloud transcription. Velea keeps no copy of the audio or the transcript, and you review the text before it is saved. Analytics and crash reporting stay off unless you turn them on.

Velea never requests your location. Weather uses the province you pick from a list — a preference you set, not a reading taken from your device.

Velea does not browse your photos. iOS asks only if you pick a file stored in your photo library — for example when restoring a backup or moving to a new phone. When you ask Velea to read a school timetable, the photograph or PDF you choose passes through Velea's server to Google Gemini for that one reading. Velea keeps neither the image nor the reading, and nothing is added to a calendar until you confirm it.

The home screen widget shows the date, the Khmer lunar day and year, and your next item. That information stays on your device and is sent nowhere. If you turn on “hide titles on the lock screen”, the widget shows that something is next without naming it.

You can export your data, sign out, erase on-device data, or delete your account and everything held on the server. Support reports send only your message and the diagnostics you approve.
